As we know from recent presidential elections the debates usually don't play an important role in helping one candidate or the other. The reason is that these debates often become a stage where the Nominees clash on each other with aggressive strategies and trying to undermine the opponent credentials.
Yesterday was not something different.
The first debate was an exemption, actually it had nothing to do with "regular" debates and Romney was able to win it because of his smooth and professional manner.
Being aggressive won't help anyone and the VP debate confirmed it. A lot of political commentators shared the opinion that Biden's bellicose approach was going to help Obama to regain control of the race but it didn't work.
People don't like this kind of debates as opposed to the TV analysts preferences.
I don't think we can declare who was the real winner yesterday, but Mitt Romney lost a chance to shoot the final blow over Obama, so the race is still open.
I think that on next Monday, after the last debate we'll be able to call who's the winner of the race for better or for worse.
